Iran's currently now admin by president  Ebrahim Raisi, who assumed office on August 5, 2021. Raisi is a conservative politician who served as Iran's Chief Justice from 2019 to 2021.

He has also held several other prominent positions within the Iranian government, including as Deputy Chief Justice and Attorney General for along time.

As President, Raisi is expected to promote conservative policies and prioritize issues such as economic reform, social welfare, and national security.

His government has set a goal of reducing Iran's dependency on oil exports and boosting non-oil exports and investment.

In terms of foreign policy, Raisi has signaled a willingness to engage with other countries, but he has also expressed a commitment to protecting Iran's national interests and opposing what he sees as hostile foreign interference.

He has been critical of the United States and Israel, and has expressed support for the Palestinian cause.

Overall, Raisi's presidency is likely to be marked by a continuation of Iran's conservative political and economic policies, as well as an emphasis on maintaining Iran's status as a regional power in the Middle East.

Iran is one of the most influential countries in the Middle East, having a significant impact on regional energy power, politics, economy, and diplomatic relations. Iran is abundant in natural resources, including oil and gas, making it the second-largest producer of oil in the Middle East.

This puts the country in a dominant position in the global oil market and gives it a significant amount of energy power in the region. This has allowed Iran to negotiate advantageous energy deals with other countries, which has strengthened its diplomatic and economic relations.

Iran's political influence in the Middle East stems from its support for various political and religious groups throughout the region.

The country supports Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthi rebels in Yemen, as well as Iraqi militias and Syrian government forces. Iran's political influence is further enhanced by its military capabilities, including ballistic missiles and a large standing army.

Iran's economy is also influential in the region, with its strategic position in the Persian Gulf providing it with access to international trade routes.

The country's economic policies have enabled it to establish trade relationships with countries throughout the Middle East and beyond, including China and Russia.

Iran's diplomatic relations have been shaped by its willingness to engage in dialogue with other countries in the region. The country has played an active role in regional organizations such as the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Iran has also played a key role in negotiating peace deals between warring factions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In conclusion, Iran's influence on the Middle East cannot be understated. The country's energy power, political influence, economic policies, and diplomatic relations have all contributed to its role as a major player in the region.

Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions, Iran's influence shows no signs of diminishing in the near future.

Belgium is considering recognising the state of Palestine, Belgian Minister of Development Cooperation Caroline Janez said in an interview. “Palestinians and Israelis alike have the right to live in peace, to live in security,” she added, stressing other European Union member states like Spain are considering following suit. The State of Palestine was officially proclaimed on November 15, 1988, by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), claiming state sovereignty of the now-besieged Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and occupied East Jerusalem. In 2012, Palestine became a non-member observer state at the UN, sharing this status with only the Holy See of the Vatican City, which also recognised the State of Palestine in 2015. As of November 2023, it has been recognised by 139 of the UN’s 193 member states.  The 54 countries that don’t recognise Palestine as a state include Armenia, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, the United Kin...
