Israel 🇮🇱 - Palestine 🇵🇸 conflict
African leaders are divided after war broke out between #Israel🇮🇱 and #Palestine🇵🇸on Saturday, but call for peace.
Some African countries have not yet remarked on the conflict but, of those who did, they seem torn between sympathy for Palestinians🇵🇸 facing Israeli🇮🇱 occupation and criticism of Hamas "terrorism" for its surprise rocket attack.
Algeria🇩🇿 "strongly condemns the brutal air strikes by the Zionist [Israeli] occupation forces in the Gaza Strip, and which caused many casualties, including children and women."
Tunisia🇹🇳has declared "full and unconditional" solidarity with the Palestinian people and urge the international community to take responsibility for putting an end to Israel's "barbaric attacks" against Palestinians.
Kenya🇰🇪says it joins the "rest of the world in solidarity with the State of Israel and unequivocally condemn terrorism and attacks on innocent civilians in the country" and calls for the "de-escalation of violence and urges all parties to restrain from further military action, given its potential to intensify carnage and the suffering of innocent civilians, and to trigger heightened tension in the region and beyond."
Democratic Republic of the Congo🇨🇩, says it "expresses solidarity with the Israeli people and presents condolences to the victims and their loved ones. The #RDC and the State of #Israël are united to fight terrorism in all its forms."
Morocco🇲🇦says it is "deeply concerned over the deterioration of the situation and the outbreak of military operations in the Gaza strip and condemns attacks against civilians wherever they may be."
Egypt🇪🇬says it has appealed to "both the Palestinian and Israeli sides to exercise the highest degrees of restraint."
South Africa🇿🇦says it expresses its "grave concern over recent devastating escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and calls for the immediate cessation of violence, restraint, and peace between Israel and Palestine."
Others like Nigeria and Uganda took a more neutral stance.
Uganda🇺🇬says the "break out of renewed violence in Israel- Palestine is regrettable. Why don’t the two sides implement the two States’ Solution? To be condemned, in particular, is the practice of targeting civilians and non- combatants by the belligerents."
Nigeria🇳🇬 says it is "deeply concerned about the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and Hamas and calls for de-escalation and ceasefire and a peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue."
Majority of African countries are treading cautiously.
HISTORICAL EVENTS IN BETWEEN TWO COUNTRY AND ESTABLISHED STATE OF ISRAEL
The map early Palestine regular region.
Before the British Mandate for Palestine, Jews made up approximately 6 percent of the total population.
From 1947 to 1950, during the Nakba or catastrophe , Zionist military forces expelled at least 750,000 Palestinians and captured 78 percent of historic Palestine. The remaining 22 percent was divided into the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
During the 1967 war, Israeli forces occupied all of historic Palestine and expelled a further 300,000 Palestinians from their homes.
Today, Israel continues to force Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank from their homes and lands, which are often taken over by Jewish Israeli settlers.
I Stand with the Oppressed People of Palestine. You can pretend and turn a blind eye to the illegal occupation. You normalized relationship with an oppressor. The reality of the oppression will hit you in the face.
For Africans, you cannot be a pan-Africanist and support the Israeli illegal occupation of Palestine. You cannot be an Nkrumahist and support an apartheid system that has seen the brutal oppression and repression of Palestinians for more than 7 decades.
The Irish took up arms and won their freedom. The Ethiopians gave Mussolini and his Italian army a run for their money.
From Algeria to Zimbabwe, we took up sound laud and for peace, independence. And you think Palestinians don’t have a right to resist an illegal occupation and oppression that has gone on for 75 years and gotten worse?
You are either anti imperialist-freedom and justice seeking African, or a two-faced coward, afraid to stand up for justice and freedom. Injustice anywhere is an injustice against us all.
If non Muslim countries was occupied by anybody today, every wester region would stand them selves and be at the forefront of the resistance.
Palestinians have every right to defend themselves and fight against the daily humiliation and annexation of their land, which is against international law.
I have seen a barrage of rants from European governments. With the exception of Switzerland and the Republic of Ireland which issued sensible statements, the rest of the EU governments have issued a torrent of nonsensical statements.
These racists imperialistic minded governments are a threat to world peace. They have sent billions of dollars of taxpayer funds to Ukraine , supported them with arms and goaded Ukrainians to arm themselves and fight the Russians really like that for whoever have master mind.
What makes them think Ukrainians can take up arms and defend their land and people but Palestinians must not? 75years of a murderous brutal occupation.
The last 12 months saw incessant incursions into Palestinian areas by Israel. Where have they been and which people on this earth would put up with such brazen and gangster violation of their dignity and human rights?
We recently celebrated some Francophone speaking African nations driving out the French. We loathe imperialism in our continent but think others must turn the other cheek? It’s called HYPOCRISY.
I stand with the oppressed people of Palestine
