More than 1,000 children had already been killed in Palestine’s Gaza by Israeli air strikes since October 7, when Israel began bombarding Palestinians in the besieged enclave, and thousands of other children had been sheltering in various hospitals in the blockaded territory.

Then, in one fell swoop, Israel killed at least 500 people at Al Ahli Arab Hospital — mostly children — in a devastating night strike.

The number of children Israel has killed in just 12 days has surpassed the number of children killed during Russia’s assaults on Ukraine since war Star early February 2022.

The United Nations (UN) must send its peacekeeping troops to end the atrocity in Palestine by the Israeli regime, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

Speaking in a press conference at the Parliament lobby on Wednesday (Oct 18), the opposition leader said the government could make such a motion during the Asean-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit.

Belgium is considering recognising the state of Palestine, Belgian Minister of Development Cooperation Caroline Janez said in an interview. “Palestinians and Israelis alike have the right to live in peace, to live in security,” she added, stressing other European Union member states like Spain are considering following suit. The State of Palestine was officially proclaimed on November 15, 1988, by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), claiming state sovereignty of the now-besieged Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and occupied East Jerusalem. In 2012, Palestine became a non-member observer state at the UN, sharing this status with only the Holy See of the Vatican City, which also recognised the State of Palestine in 2015. As of November 2023, it has been recognised by 139 of the UN’s 193 member states.  The 54 countries that don’t recognise Palestine as a state include Armenia, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, the United Kin...

THE OROMO DIHASPORA VISITED KENIYA REFELECTIONS ON.

“Who we are as a people is infinitely complex. I am talking about the Oromo, of course, but I think I’m also talking about us all. If I have learned anything over the past year and seven months, it is that I will only ever keep living and reliving this one truth: people, their stories, and their lived realities are not linear, rigid, or made to be easily and simply comprehended. Life exists on a continuum of relationships and storytelling. I want to remain willing to relate to who people are, as they are, rather than clinging onto what I have constructed of a people through imagination, hearsay, and the effects of groupthink.” Read more at: https://www.theelephant.info/op-eds/2022/04/22/a-diasporan-oromo-visits-kenya-a-reflection/?fbclid=IwAR10kMrgNgv2BIT6UZW0dGuwBoJvPr2Y_DF1jnLn_Fc3FLj6oUFg0gKSBx4#.YmM2ZklBDSg.facebook The Elephant - Speaking truth to power.
